Dr. Dewi Fortuna Anwar is a research professor at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences’ Center for Political Studies. She has served in an advisory capacity to several vice presidents of Indonesia, including as the deputy secretary for political affairs for Vice President Boediono, and deputy for government policy support to Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla. In 1998-1999, Anwar served as assistant minister of state secretariat for foreign affairs under President B.J. Habibie. She is also the chairman of the Institute for Democracy and Human Rights at the Habibie Center, a private think tank in Jakarta, and has been a member of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences since 2015.

Anwar received her Ph.D. from the department of politics and history at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. She has worked as a Congressional fellow at the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission from 2004 to 2008, and a member of the UN Secretary General’s advisory board on disarmament matters from 2008 to 2012. She is also a member of the Governing Board of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

The Right Honorable James Arbuthnot is a member of the House of Lords on the Conservative side and chair of the advisory board of Thales UK, a French defense company. In his previous capacity as a member of Parliament, he served as chair of the House of Commons Defense Select Committee where helped hold the Ministry of Defense accountable for its actions and issued reports on current defense-related policies and practices from 2005 to 2015. During his 23 years as an MP, Arbuthnot held a number of other eminent posts including government whip from 1992 to 1994, minister of state for defence procurement from 1995 to 1997 and member of the Intelligence and Security Committee.

Arbuthnot attended Eton before graduating from Trinity College, Cambridge with an honors law degree. Prior to becoming an MP in 1987, Arbuthnot practiced as a barrister.

The Honorable Keiichiro Asao is a former member of both houses of the Japanese Diet. Asao worked for The Industrial Bank of Japan before being elected to the House of Councilors in 1998. He was elected member of the House of Representatives in 2009, and within his party serves as chairman of the Policy Research Council. Asao is also a chartered member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan (SAAJ) and has published scholarly articles on Japanese and international affairs.

Dr. Jacques Attali is the CEO of the international consulting firm Attali & Associates and president of the advisory board of the Positive Planet Foundation, a nonprofit economic aid organization. He served as an advisor to French President Francois Mitterrand from 1981 to 1991. He later became the first president of the London-based European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where he served from 1991 to 1993. During his political career, Attali acted as an advisor to the secretary-general of the United Nations on the issue of nuclear weapons and founded efforts to alleviate suffering in developing nations such as Action Contre la Faim (Action Against Hunger). He went on to found PlaNet Finance, a nonprofit organization that promotes development through microfinance. In 2011, he was awarded the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service.

Attali is a member of the Global Zero Commission.

Dr. Greg Austin is a professorial fellow with the East West Institute, where he is working to identify and produce policy papers on new and emerging areas of global risks, threats and challenges as head of the Policy Innovation Unit. He was awarded the fellowship after serving five years as vice president of program development and rapid response at the Institute.
Dr. Austin’s career in international affairs spans thirty years and consists of several senior positions in academia, government and policy organizations, including the International Crisis Group and the Foreign Policy Centre, London.

Austin holds a doctorate in International Relations and is the founding chair of the Asian Century Institute in London. He has authored dozens of books and articles on topics ranging from global security threats to Chinese foreign policy.

The Right Honorable Lloyd Axworthy is a Canadian politician who served as minister of foreign affairs from 1996 to 2000, and is currently president of the World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy. As foreign minister, he led efforts to create the Ottawa Treaty, the international agreement to ban anti-personnel landmines. After leaving public office, he served as director and CEO of the Liu Institute for Global Issues at the University of British Columbia, and as president and vice-chancellor of the University of Winnipeg until 2014. Axworthy continues to speak and write widely on foreign affairs. In 2015, he was promoted to Companion of the Order of Canada.

Ambassador Marcos de Azambuja is a former member of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission, which was launched by the Government of Sweden to develop methods for reducing the dangers from weapons of mass destruction. Prior to this, he served as the permanent representative of Brazil to the United Nations and the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. He has also served as ambassador to France and Argentina and as the secretary-general of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Brazil. He also served as the vice president of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI).

In 1998-99, Azambuja was a member of the Tokyo Forum for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament which produced a report on nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament, “Facing Nuclear Dangers: An Action Plan for the 21st Century,” which was later submitted to the U.N. secretary-general.

Former Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz is the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission of Pakistan. He served as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on national security and foreign affairs. He has held important positions in the United Nations, the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food Council and the International Fund for Agricultural Development before starting his political career in 1984, when he joined the Pakistan Federal Cabinet as minister of state for food, agriculture and cooperatives. He was elected senator in 1985, 1988 and again in 1994, and also served as minister of agriculture, minister of finance and minister of foreign affairs. In 1993, he was appointed as secretary general of the Pakistan Muslim League. Aziz was also vice chancellor of Beaconhouse National University in Lahore.
