The Honorable Seiji Maehara is a member of the House of Representatives of Japan. He is a former foreign minister of Japan and also a former leader of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ). Prior to his position with the DPJ, Maehara served as the minister of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism.
As a member of the DPJ, Maehara has focused on security affairs. In shadow governments, he has served as the shadow minister for security affairs and shadow minister for the defense agency.

The Honorable Hiroe Makiyama is a member of the House of Councilors of the National Diet of Japan. Makiyama was first elected to the House of Councilors in 2007 after practicing law in the United States. She has also worked as director for the Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc.

Senator Mikhail Margelov is a Russian political figure and international relations expert who is chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and special representative for cooperation with African countries. In 2000, Margelov served as a consultant to Vladimir Putin’s Electoral Headquarters in charge of contacts with the foreign media. Margelov graduated from the Institute of Countries of Asia and Africa, which is affiliated with Moscow State University.
The Right Honorable Lord Jack McConnell is chairperson of the board of trustees of Radio Clyde and West Sound’s Cash for Kids, the oldest broadcast children’s charity in Scotland. He also serves on the board of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. From 1999 to 2011, he was a member of the Scottish Parliament, during which time he held various ministerial positions including, minister for education, Europe and external affairs and minister of finance. He was the longest serving and youngest first minister of Scotland, a position he held from 2001 to 2007. After leaving the position of first minister, he worked to support the U.K.’s efforts to improve the ability of international institutions to prevent and resolve conflict as the special representative for peace building under Prime Minister Gordon Brown. McConnell has represented Scotland on the EU Committee of the Regions and was elected president of the Conference of European Legislative Regions in 2004. He was introduced to membership of the House of Lords in 2010 as Lord McConnell of Glenscorrodale.

First Lady Danielle Mitterrand was the wife of François Mitterrand, president of France from 1981 to 1995. Mitterrand was active in the French Resistance during the Second World War, and was honored with the French Patriot Medal for her work. As First Lady, she launched many initiatives promoting freedom and human rights. She received numerous awards, including for her work to end apartheid and her action in support of the Kurdish and Tibetan people. In 1986, Mitterrand created Frances Libertés, a foundation focused on three main programs: water, rethinking wealth and human rights.
Danielle Mitterrand passed away in 2011.

Vice President Walter Mondale was the senior counsel in the international and corporate practice group at Dorsey & Whitney law firm. Previously, he served as honorary consul general to Norway and U.S. ambassador to Japan. He was the 42nd vice president of the United States under President Jimmy Carter and played a key role in the Camp David Accords. Prior to his vice presidency, Mondale served as Minnesota’s attorney general from 1960 to 1964 and as U.S. senator of Minnesota from 1964 to 1976. During his time as vice president, Mondale was a strong advocate for social reform. In 1984, he ran for president with Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate on a platform that included, among other things, a nuclear freeze. Mondale passed away on April 19, 2021.

Mr. Rolf Mowatt-Larssen is a senior fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Prior to his appointment, Mowatt-Larssen served more than three years as the director of intelligence and counterintelligence at the U.S. Department of Energy. Before then, he served for 23 years as a CIA intelligence officer in various domestic and international posts, which include chief of the Europe division in the Directorate of Operations, chief of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Department, Counterterrorist Center and deputy associate director of Central Intelligence for Military Support. Mowatt-Larssen’s overseas assignments include Stockholm (1984-1987), Moscow (1988-1990, 1992-1994), Athens (1990-1992), Yerevan (1992), Zurich (1994-1996) and Oslo (1998-2000).
Prior to his career in intelligence, Mowatt-Larssen served as an officer in the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy of West Point, NY. He is a recipient of the CIA Director’s Award, the George W. Bush Award for Excellence in Counterterrorism, the Secretary of Energy’s Exceptional Service Medal, the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, Secretary of Defense Civilian Distinguished Service Medal and the National Intelligence Superior Performance Medal among others.

Dr. Rolf Mützenich is a member of the German Bundestag, in which he serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Disarmament, Arms Control and Nonproliferation. He works as the official foreign policy spokesman of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) and as a member of the party’s Security-Political Commission. He was a researcher at the SPD Parliamentary Group before being elected to the Bundestag in 2002. In addition to his parliamentary position, he is a lecturer at the University of Cologne and is a member of the board of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. He has written at length on regional security framework, the role of regional powers, nuclear proliferation and Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
