Retired General Merrill A. McPeak is a former chief of staff of the United States Air Force. McPeak entered the U.S. Air Force in November 1957 and was a fighter pilot during his early years. Since retiring from the Air Force, he has directed a number of private companies. McPeak received a bachelor’s degree in economics from San Diego State College and a master’s degree in international relations from George Washington University. He currently serves as chairman of the American Battle Monuments Commission and recently acted as an advisor to the PBS film “The Vietnam War.”
