Retired General Merrill A. McPeak is a former chief of staff of the United States Air Force. McPeak entered the U.S. Air Force in November 1957 and was a fighter pilot during his early years. Since retiring from the Air Force, he has directed a number of private companies. McPeak received a bachelor’s degree in economics from San Diego State College and a master’s degree in international relations from George Washington University. He currently serves as chairman of the American Battle Monuments Commission and recently acted as an advisor to the PBS film “The Vietnam War.”

General Mikhail Moiseyev was on the board of Technological and Intellectual Development of the Russia Joint-Stock Company. He was appointed by President Vladimir Putin to the governmental commission on the social protection of the military, under which he is involved in programs to provide assistance to retiring military personnel. From 1988 to 1991, Moiseyev served as Army General Chief of the Soviet General Staff, during which time he oversaw the dissolution of the Warsaw Treaty Organization and intense arms control negotiations, including the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty. He also served as a military consultant to the Russia Supreme Soviet in 1992.

He passed away in December 2022.

Since his retirement from the Indian military, Lieutenant General Satish Nambiar has been actively engaged in the study and analysis of United Nations peacekeeping operations, national security matters and international relations. Nambiar was elected to the Council of the United Service Institution of India in 1995 and became the director of the institution in 1996. He is on the International Advisory Council of the Folke Bernadotte Academy in Sandoverken, Sweden.

Since September 2002, Nambiar has been advising the government of Sri Lanka on certain aspects of the Sri Lankan peace process. In 2003, he was nominated by the secretary-general of the United Nations to serve on a 16-member, high-level panel, set up to study global security threats and recommend measures for effective collective action. Nambiar is also a distinguished fellow at the Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses and an associate member of the India International Centre, both in New Delhi.

General Klaus Naumann is a retired four-star general of the German army and was the chair of the North Atlantic Military Committee from 1996 to 1999. In 2000, he was a member of the United Nations Panel on UN Peace Operations, and in 2001 he was a member of the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty. Naumann also served as a commissioner of the International Commission on Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament.

Naumann is a member of the Global Zero Nuclear Risk Reduction Commission and the Global Zero NATO-Russia Commission.

Retired General Bernard Norlain is the president of the Comité d’Études de la Défense Nationale and director of the Revue Défense Nationale. Norlain is the former air defense commander and air combat commander of the French Air Force and has logged more than 6,000 hours of flight as a fighter pilot. He served as military adviser to French Prime Ministers Jacques Chirac and Michel Rocard. He was director of the French Institute for National Defense Studies, vice-president of Deloitte & Touche and chairman of the Sofema group.

Norlain is a member of the Nuclear Crisis Group, the Global Zero Commission on Nuclear Risk Reduction and the Global Zero NATO-Russia Commission.

Retired Major General Pan Zhenqiang is deputy chairman of the China Foundation for International Studies and Academic Changes, director of research at the Institute for Strategy and Management of the Central University of Finance and Economics in China and senior adviser to the China Reform Forum. Pan is also the former director of the Institute for Strategic Studies at National Defence University of China in Beijing.

Pan is a member of the Nuclear Crisis Group and the Global Zero Commission on Nuclear Risk Reduction.

Retired Lieutenant General Vasantha R. Raghavan is a founding director of the Delhi Policy Group (DPG) and president of the Centre for Security Analysis. He has led a number of programs with a focus on India’s security perspectives, including South East Asia security relations, civil society–governance interface and nuclear policy stewardship in India. He is a council member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) and was a commissioner of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission.

Raghavan retired as a lieutenant general from the Indian Army after a distinguished career where he was decorated on three occasions and served as director general of military operations. Raghavan’s combat experience includes operations in wars with Pakistan and China and in counter-insurgency campaigns.

The Lord Ramsbotham GCB CBE was a retired British Army general, serving among other roles as director of public relations from 1982 to 1984 and adjutant general from 1990 to 1993 before his retirement that same year. Ramsbotham served as Her Majesty’s chief inspector of prisons from 1995 to 2001. In 2005, he was awarded a life peerage and currently sits in the House of Lords as a crossbench peer. He was also a member of the Top Level Group of the United Kingdom’s Parliamentarians for Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation.

Ramsbotham passed away in December 2022.
