Ambassador Henrik Salander is a Swedish diplomat who has focused on nuclear weapons and disarmament throughout his career. In addition to serving the Swedish government as the head of disarmament and non-proliferation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was the secretary-general of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission, an international effort that produced a series of recommendations to reduce the danger posed by nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. From 2009 to 2010, he worked as the chairman of the Middle Power Initiative, a campaign to promote the elimination of nuclear weapons. He is currently chairman of Salander Consulting and Publishing and is a member of the International Panel on Fissile Material and of the Swedish Academy of War Sciences.

Ambassador Shri Shyam Saran served as India’s foreign secretary and as India’s ambassador to Indonesia and Myanmar. He has also held the positions of high commissioner to Mauritius, joint secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, deputy chief of mission in Tokyo and counselor in the Indian Embassy in Beijing. Saran served as a special envoy of the prime minister on Indo-US civil nuclear issues. He currently serves as chairman of the National Security Advisory Board under India’s National Security Council.

Ambassador Yukio Satoh is vice chairman of the Japan Institute of International Affairs in Tokyo and is an accomplished Japanese diplomat, having served as the permanent representative of Japan to the United Nations. He also served as the ambassador of Japan to the Netherlands from 1994 to 1996 and to Australia from 1996 to 1998.

Satoh entered the Foreign Service in 1961 from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law and studied history at Edinburgh University from 1961 to 1963. He has written numerous articles on security issues both in English and Japanese.

Satoh is a member of the Global Zero Commission on Nuclear Risk Reduction and the Global Zero Commission.

Ambassador Kanwal Sibal is the president of the Association of Indian Diplomats. He is on the board of directors of the East-West Institute and the advisory board of the Vivekananda International Foundation. From 2008 to 2010, was a member of India’s National Security Advisory Board. As a member of the Indian Foreign Service for over 40 years, he has held ambassadorial posts in Turkey, Russia, the United States, Egypt and France. In 2002, he reached India’s highest position on his appointment as foreign secretary of India. Sibal has received the high distinction of Grand Officier of the Ordre du Merite from the president of France. He is also an editorial consultant to “The Indian Defence Review” and foreign affairs editor of “Force.”

Song Min-Soon served as minister of foreign affairs and trade and as national security adviser under President Roh Moo Hyun’s administration. He headed the Korean delegation to the Six-Party Talks in 2005 when the September 19 Joint Statement for the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula was adopted. Song was also previously a member of the National Assembly where he served on the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee.

Song is a member of the Global Zero Commission on Nuclear Risk Reduction.

Ambassador Toshiyuki Takano is an accomplished Japanese diplomat. As a graduate of the University of Tokyo, he served in the Japanese diplomatic service in a variety of capacities. Takano became the deputy minister for foreign affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001 and served as the ambassador of Japan to Singapore, South Korea and Germany. He currently serves as a senior advisor to the ITOCHU Corporation.

Ambassador Roland Timerbaev sat on the advisory board of the Center for Policy Studies, where he previously served as the chairman of the executive board until 2010. He was a member of the Soviet diplomatic service for 43 years, serving his last post as permanent representative of USSR/Russia to international organizations in Vienna. He also served in the Soviet Mission to the UN. Timerbaev took part in drafting many key international nuclear agreements, including the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, the Peaceful Nuclear Explosion Treaty and the IAEA safeguards system, arms control and nonproliferation negotiations. He is viewed throughout the world as one of the fathers of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the cornerstone document of the nonproliferation regime, and has played an active role in six NPT Review Conferences.

Ambassador Tibor Tóth is the executive secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization. He previously served as Hungary’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva and in Vienna. In those capacities, he represented Hungary at the Conference on Disarmament and the International Atomic Energy Agency. From August 2005 to July 2013, Tóth served as executive secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization. He is also the former Hungarian deputy state secretary of defense responsible for international affairs. During more than 30 years of work in international disarmament, he also chaired the Biological Weapons Convention negotiations on an implementation and verification regime.
