Ambassador Peter Jankowitsch is a member of the board and former secretary-general of the Austro-French Centre for Rapprochement in Europe. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Academy of Astronautics, chair of its Social Sciences Section and a former associate editor of Acta Astronautica. A former foreign minister of Austria, he has served as the permanent representative of Austria to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and as the representative of Austria to the United Nations. Prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jankowitsch spent ten years as a member of the Austrian Parliament.

Ms. Shannon O’Leary Joy

Shannon Joy is the president of the EarthSense Foundation. She is also executive producer of “Mission Blue,” “The Last Animals” and “Franca”; and an associate producer of “Chasing Coral” which won the audience award at the Sundance Film Festival, where she supports the Climate Program. Joy studied at the National Holistic Institute, Berkeley and has worked in the healing arts for two decades. She is a member of Oceans 5, a global funders’ collaborative committed to the protection of the world’s oceans. Joy has also photographed and worked with groups in Cambodia, Dr. Nancy Hendrie of the Sharing Foundation and Executive Director Scott Nelson of the Cambodian Children’s Fund.

Mr. Matake Kamiya

Matake Kamiya is professor of international relations at the National Defense Academy of Japan and an adjunct research fellow at the Japan Institute of International Affairs. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Japan Association for International Security and a member of the board of trustees of the Japan Association of International Relations. Kamiya has published extensively on international relations, international security, Japan’s postwar pacifism, U.S.-Japan security relations and nuclear topics, including Japan’s non-nuclear policy. His English-language publications include “Realistic Proactivism: Japanese Attitudes toward Global Zero,” chapters in edited volumes and articles in The Washington Quarterly and Arms Control Today among others.

Amb. Max Kampelman

Ambassador Max Kampelman was a diplomat, lawyer and educator. He served as U.S. ambassador to the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, the counselor of the Department of State and ambassador and head of the U.S. Delegation to the Negotiations on Nuclear and Space Arms with the Soviet Union in Geneva. He held the position of senior advisor to the U.S. delegation to the UN and vice chairman of the U.S. Institute of Peace. In 1999, Kampelman was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the nation, and in 2000 he was among the first to be awarded the Library of Congress Living Legend award.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wrote of Kampelman, “[his] leadership was instrumental to the successful negotiation of human rights commitments and democratic norms that continue to be international gold standards. His contributions to arms control and international security ushered in a more stable, predictable geostrategic landscape. He never stopped working to control the threat posed by nuclear weapons, and he never stopped speaking out for the cause of human rights.” Kampelman passed away January 25, 2013.

Gen. (ret.) Jehangir Karamat

General Jehangir Karamat is a retired Pakistani military officer and diplomat. He served in combat in the 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan wars and eventually rose to the position of chairman of the Pakistani Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee before retiring from the armed forces.

Karamat was the Pakistani ambassador to the United States from November 2004 to June 2006. After this ambassadorship, he founded a sociopolitical policy and analysis institute, Spearhead Research, which focuses on social, economic, military and political issues connected to Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also served as a commissioner on the International Commission on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament from 2009 to 2010.

Karamat is a member of the Nuclear Crisis Group, the Global Zero Commission on Nuclear Risk Reduction and the Global Zero Commission.

Foreign Min. Khurshid Kasuri

Minister Khurshid Kasuri joined the political and strategy committee for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf after leaving his position as chairman of the steering committee of the Pakistan Muslim League in 2011. He served as foreign minister of Pakistan from 2002 to 2007. Prior to his appointment as foreign minister, he was chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on media. Between 1988 and 2000, Kasuri served as the prime minister’s special envoy to Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and the European Union and represented Pakistan as a member of Pakistan parliamentary delegations. Throughout his career, Kasuri has taken an active interest in various political movements for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan.

Foreign Min. Yoriko Kawaguchi

Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi is a distinguished fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute and professor at the Meiki Institute for Global Affairs in Tokyo. Previously, she was a member of the House of Councillors of Japan where she chaired the Standing Committee on Environment. From 2002 to 2004, she served as the minister for foreign affairs of Japan. She has also held the positions of special advisor to the prime minister of foreign affairs and minister of the environment. From 2008 to 2010, she served as co-chair of the International Commission on Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament. She is currently a member of the Asia Pacific Leadership Network, executive advisor of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and distinguished fellow at the Tokyo Foundation.

Hon. Naoki Kazama

The Honorable Naoki Kazama is a member of the House of Councillors of Japan. Within his party, Kazama is the director of the Committee on Financial Affairs. He previously held positions as party secretary and was elected as a member of the Niigata Prefecture Assembly. Kazama has also participated in international voluntary activities in Mali in 1997 following the civil war, and in training sponsored by the U.S. State Department on security issues and diplomatic realities of democratic institutions.
